Council warn over Council Tax refund scam

Monmouthshire County Council is urging residents to remain vigilant after receiving reports of unsolicited emails offering Council Tax refunds. The message reportedly tells householders they have an outstanding refund and encourages them to click on a link.

Monmouthshire’s Revenues team advise it’s not official council correspondence and residents should exercise caution before providing any details to a third party.  The Council recently had to issue similar warnings when residents described receiving phone calls advising them they were entitled to a rebate on their council tax bill.
