PATHS TO WELLBEING – UPDATE

Update:

Thanks to the 16 people who took part in the path clearance day around Grosmont on 4th August. Ramblers Cymru supplied back up and kit which we have kept in the village. We were joined by Pontypool Ramblers group who are keen to return.

The next clearance session is proposed for 1st September

All the routes have now been surveyed and contact is being made with landowners for permission to fit the kissing gates and waymarks.

From Rhys:

“We are awaiting a date from Woodland Trust for delivery of the wild harvest and hedgerow trees, as soon as I know I will let you know.   Provisionally we have begun to map out a day in which we could prepare the area we have chosen for wildflower seed as an activity for Cross Ash pupils as well as bioblitz nature surveys and the results of the competition for the waymark design.

We have also started the order process for the bird / batboxes and are hoping to have Mark Whitaker help install and maybe give a talk to the pupils based around this, this could be another activity day and finally we have chosen benches for installation on the school site, they are wooden and will require digging in so may require volunteer help”
