Grosmont shop: where do we go from here?

Our village shop is due to close on 6th September. At the recent Grosmont Forever event there were many people in the village who expressed the opinion that the village shop was one of the most important aspects of the future here. We’d like to hear from others who would be interested in forming a steering group to look at the possibility of finding a way for there to be a viable shop in our lovely village, or who would be willing to volunteer in some other way. There are charities who specialise in supporting groups to begin a community shop and we may able to work with others to learn from their experience and explore how we may be able to make something possible. Please do get in touch if you’d be willing to be part of a group looking at the options: grosmontcommunityshop@gmail.com The first job of any steering group would be to find out the wishes of as many locals as possible and I have a template survey for us to adapt to our situation to achieve this so watch for this coming to you at some point, hopefully soon. Volunteers to help with this would be very welcome.
