There’s lots of opportunities to enter…from craft to cakes to carrots! We welcome entries from everyone…young, old and in-between. Get growing, sewing and planting.

Where: the Nave of St Nicholas Church
Entry staging: Saturday morning between 10am & 11.45am
Judging: between 12noon & 2pm (closed to the public)
Open viewing: from 2.15pm
Awards ceremony: 4pm
Entries per category cost just 50p (aged 11 & under 20p)

How to Enter
It’s easy to enter, just:
choose the category/ies you’d like to enter;
complete the entry form (available below) (one per person);
send the form (or bring it with you on the day) with your entry fee (cash only please);
Write your name on a piece of paper, and put it into a sealed envelope. Repeat for each entry;
come along after 2pm and see how you’ve got on

Entry forms
Rules
RULES
1) Entry Forms and Fees to be submitted to Karen Farr, Ty Dre Farm, Grosmont (01981 240078) OR Forms by email to farrsingrosmont@bt internet.com OR by using the electronic form using the link above.
2) All exhibits MUST BE STAGED by 11.45am on Saturday 22nd August 2026, and MUST be accompanied by an ENVELOPE showing the class number eg 4b, and containing the name and address of the entrant. Unidentified entries will sadly be disqualified.
4) ENTRY FEE – Adults 50p per entry, Children 20p per entry.
PRIZES will be : 1st – £1.50, 2nd – £1.00, 3rd – 50p
5) All exhibitors must provide their own materials.
6) All exhibits must have been made/grown by the exhibitor, and MUST NOT have been previously entered in the show.
7) No person can have more than one entry per sub-class.
8) If there are fewer than three entries in a class, or only one entry, the prize(s) will be awarded at the discretion of the judges.
9) The awarding of all prizes is at the discretion of the judges.
10) The decision of the judges is final.
11) Judging will take place between 12 noon and 2pm on Saturday 22nd August 2026 and the display of exhibits will be open to the Public at 2.15pm.
13) Prizes and certificates will be awarded as appropriate.
14) Exhibits and certificates should be left on display until 4.25, and removed by 5.30pm. Any not removed will be disposed of.
15) Prizes will be awarded in Grosmont Nave as soon after 4pm as possible.
16) The organisers cannot be responsible for any loss or damage.
Hints & Tips
Make sure you have the right number!)
APPEARANCE – natural bloom should be preserved on fruit and legumes, do not polish apples etc.
CURRANTS – shown in bunches as grown / BERRIES – shown on the stalk
VEGETABLES – wash roots but do not use oil etc, use soft sponge not a brush. Beet, & root vegetables, remove leaves, keep 3” of stalk.
AIM FOR UNIFORMITY of appearance. (The largest are not necessarily alike.)
All fruit & vegetables exhibited MUST BE ON THEIR STEM/STALK/CALYX.
Stage French Beans & Peas in a wheel on a plate.
VICTORIA SPONGE RECIPE
Weigh 3 eggs.
Weigh the same amount of SR flour, caster sugar and butter/margarine.
Sieve flour into a bowl, add eggs, sugar, butter/margarine, and ½ tsp of vanilla extract.
Beat well, bake in two (approx.) 7” sponge tins.
Jam and/or cream filling of choice.
